Description

This unit provides the opportunity for you to explore critical and contextual issues that inform the notion of make-up transformation in all its manifestations. You will explore emerging issues and perceptions of contemporary and historical contexts, and consider potential developments in a variety of emerging performance genres. In recognising the connections between theory and practice the unit provides the opportunity to develop research, technical application, critical understanding and analytical skills. Through the application of your advancing technical and critical skills this unit encourages you to consider your developing specialist interests in make-up transformation and to consider a potential focus for investigation at Level 6.

Informed through a series of staff and student led seminars, workshops and independent study, you will undertake a sustained piece of academic writing and use the opportunity to confidently apply the academic skills acquired in Level 4. Practical workshops and industry speakers will inform your increasing level of advancing technical skills and specialist make-up practice in preparation for your Professional Make-up Project.

The opportunity exists to link the syllabus of this unit to productions or projects being undertaken within the University or externally.
