Makeup Exploration
I chose to experiment with just using paint to create a cyborg character. I decided to just concentrate on one section of the body, here being the neck area. The design was to create a neck structure in a mehanical way, such as pistons that would hold up the head and vertical circular pieces, which would allow movement. This idea has been referenced from different makeup ideas and images I gathered within my initial research. I also found that hairstyles that include lines often reflect a futuristic view and therefore decided to incorporate this within my makeup. I included 2 tight conrow plates each side then in the centre the hair had some volume then merged into a plait that was then pinned in at the nape.
I feel that the makeup and hair, produced a futurist feel and related to cyborgs. I feel that the body painting should have gone back further as there was a skin outline, but feel that the front shaped well to the bone structure of the collar bones. I liked the simplicity of the painting and related well to the hair and basic face makeup. From viewing the photographs i noticed that the body is a different colour to the face. I have leant that I must take any other clean skin into consider this when body painting, so that it all matches and make it less obvious that it has been painted. I had also forgotten to powder, and because i used grease paint it smudged under the chin and therefore did not produce as clean edge. This makeup could be developed and improved to create a better quality finish and also a black background could also make the robotic neck look more realistic and make the neck apear as the unnatural shape.
