I took part in a AUB student film called Political Noise

It only involved basic makeup, however it meant that I got to experience what it is like to work on set. As the location was mostly outdoors, it meant that the weather could be unpredictable and could effect shooting. Also I found that some times makeup needs to be done in areas that are not light suitable or spacious, which means that this needs to be taken into consideration when choosing foundation colours etc.

I found it interesting and did not realise how many people are required with a film crew and the different types of equipment available. It was a fun environment to work within as although its work you also spend alot of time with one another. I also discovered that its very likely that some scenes take longer than predicted and some do't even make it into the final piece.

I did the makeup for the main male character, the man in the wheelchair, the bouncer and one of the prostitutes. the bouncer and prostitutes were not included as much as planned and the makeup was not that visible, it showed me that extras do not require that much as they are usually more out of focus.

I also did the makeup for another AUB student film called A feminist Date. They wanted the makeup to be slightly more done up but not over the top and also they were having alot of bright colours in costume and wanted the makeup to relate. I applied eye liner with beauty makeup and then red lipstick to match the shoes.  The wanted the hair to be styled but again not over the top, so ased me to curls the ends but look more natural. Unfortunately the curls dropped  after being on location and I did not have access to any electricity to be able to re curl the hair. I will definitely consider purchasing some gas tongs. This meant that there would be problems with the continuety of the hair.

Also they did not capture one of the scenes as well as they wanted so re scheduled but did not inform me until the day before and it is was too short notice to book it off work. However they carried on shooting that day, and again there would have been a continuety issue as there was no makeup artist to recreate the hair and makeup.

Even though it the i was not pleased with the outcome of beind a makeup artist on this film, i have still learnt alot about working on set
